Organisation and DIY

Now as you may know if you read last weeks blog my sister and her girlfriend moved in together last week and as a result of this my youngest sister is moving into a new bedroom! She has chosen to have a pastel coloured bedroom and anyone that knows me knows I love pastel and I love crafty things. I recently found a box of pastel coloured buttons in a draw and decided to create something for my sisters new bedroom. As usual things don’t always go to plan and after deciding on making a cushion cover for her with her initial in buttons on the front, I soon discovered it was going to be quite tricky to sew all the little buttons on and I made a few mistakes a long the way (usually accidentally sewing two sides of the cover together!) but I finally finished it last night and I’m quite happy with the result! I gave it to my sister today and she was very pleased with it! I have now been given orders from my little brother to sew him a Southampton FC themed cushion!

My husband will tell you that I am never very happy with the way my rooms are arranged or how things are organised and so much to his annoyance I tend to move things around a lot and I get very particular about where things go. I’ve recently been looking into various storage and organisation things to make my home feel a little less cluttered or messy thus creating the illusion that I am an organised and together person (ha!). In the last year or so I’ve been obsessed with the clear acrylic make up storage that many stores online and on the high street sell. They come in all shapes and sizes with various compartments or drawers to keep everything neat and tidy. I recently purchased a lipstick holder and palette holder and I love them! I bought them from Amazon and they are so inexpensive but very attractive and do the job well! All my makeup is organised and they have freed up drawers for other things!

I have also recently signed up for the monthly subscription service, Birchbox. For £10 +p&p they send you various samples of beauty products each month. So far I’m quite impressed and as a bonus all the items come in a beautiful little box with a different theme each month. I have decided to keep all the little boxes and use them as storage as they are too pretty to throw away!

I’d also just like to say thank you to those of you that have been reading. Im so glad you are enjoying my blog because I really enjoy writing it! From now onwards I’m going to try and post weekly on a Sunday or Monday!

  1. Hi, I loved your post! 🙂 I put organization as one of my new years resolutions, so I was happy to see this. Your cosmetic organizer is terrific! I do not wear make up, but I heard Birchbox is very clever because they tailor the box to your preferences.

Thank you Holz! Lovely read again and the cushion is gorgeous! Really well done! I have decided to take up card making again and have just bought new supplies which won’t fit in my craft box so I will need more storage too! (I haven’t told Grandpa yet!!😳) x
